Before You Begin
Installing a wide body kit on your Mercedes G-Class is a significant project. While many components are designed as bolt-on replacements, achieving perfect fitment requires patience, the right tools, and attention to detail. This guide covers the general installation process for our G800 and G900 style kits.
Tools and Materials Needed
- Socket set (metric, 8mm-19mm)
- Trim removal tools
- Panel alignment tool
- 3M double-sided tape (for accent pieces)
- Rivnut tool (for some wide body applications)
- Silicone sealant (for light housings)
Step 1: Preparation
Park your G-Class on a level surface. Remove any existing aftermarket parts. Clean all mounting surfaces thoroughly. For our G800 Style Carbon Fiber Wide Body Kit, we recommend test-fitting all components before any painting or permanent installation.
Step 2: Front Bumper Removal and Installation
Remove the existing front bumper by disconnecting the wiring harness for fog lights and sensors. Remove the bolts securing the bumper to the fender liners and chassis. Install the new bumper by reversing this process. Our Dry Carbon Fiber Body Kit for G-Class W464 W463A G63 is designed to align with factory mounting points.
Step 3: Side Skirt Installation
Side skirts typically attach using existing mounting points along the rocker panel plus additional adhesive for a secure fit. Ensure the surface is clean and dry before applying any adhesive components.
Step 4: Rear Bumper and Diffuser
Similar to the front, the rear bumper removal requires disconnecting rear parking sensor wiring. The diffuser section of kits like the G900 Rocket Carbon Fiber Body Kit typically bolts directly to the rear bumper reinforcement.
Step 5: Fender Flares (Wide Body Only)
For wide body kits, fender flares are the most involved installation step. They may require drilling for rivnuts or using existing mounting points. Professional installation is strongly recommended for this step.
Professional Installation Recommended
While this guide provides a general overview, we strongly recommend professional installation for full wide body kits. Contact our team at RacingPartsWorld.com for recommended installers in your area.
